5-Year-Old Girl Hit By Motorbike Dies

A five-year-old girl has died after being hit by a motorbike in Dorset.

Two bikes ran into a family group as they crossed the A354 in near the Swannery Bridge in Weymouth yesterday - the child's grandmother is in a critical condition in hospital in Dorchester while her two sisters aged six and ten are stable.

Inspector Matt Butler from Dorset Police traffic unit said:

"it is with great sadness that I inform you that the 5-year-old girl injured in the collision on the A354 Weymouth Way has died from her injuries.

"Her grandmother remains in a critical condition and her two sisters are in a stable condition.

"The family are being supported by a trained family liaison officer and an investigation team from Dorset Police traffic unit is interviewing witnesses and examining forensic evidence to determine exactly how the collision happened.

"We are very grateful to all the members of the public who stopped to help at the scene.

I would ask any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the pedestrians or motorcyclists prior to the collision to make contact with us on the non-emergency contact number 101".
