Around 60 firefighters have tackled a large heath fire in Dorset.

A hectare of gorse and trees caught fire on the afternoon of Monday 8th July.

The land is owned by the National Trust, and firefighters from Bournemouth, Poole and the Purbecks were called to tackle the blaze near the Knowle House Hotel.

They managed to get the flames surrounded within two hours and stayed to damp down the area.

Six fire engines, seven land rovers and the unimog helped battle the flames.

The smoke could be seen from Bournemouth beach.

It's thought the fire was started deliberately.
