92-Year-Old Man Attacked by Burglars

Detectives are looking for four burglars who went into a 92-year-old man's house in Ferndown and attacked him, before stealing his money

It happened along Ham Lane in the Longham area at around 8pm on Thursday, 30 December 2010.

The elderly victim was left with a cut to his face – he was treated at the scene by paramedics.

A significant amount of money was stolen.

Detective Constable Liz Westaway said:

“I understand that the four men entered the victim’s house through an insecure rear door and demanded money – one of these men struck the pensioner, while the others searched the house.

“The four men left through the rear door.”

All four men are white, around five feet ten inches tall and aged between 25 and 30. At the time of the incident, they were predominantly wearing dark outdoor clothing.

One of the men was wearing a navy blue jacket, a woollen hat and had a scarf covering his face.

DC Westaway continued:

“This was a vicious and cowardly attack that has, understandably, left the victim extremely shaken.

“I am appealing for witnesses, and anyone with any information about those responsible, to contact me as soon as possible.

“If anyone saw four men behaving suspiciously in the Ham Lane area at around 8pm yesterday, Thursday, 30 December 2010, I would ask them to get in touch urgently.”
