Biker Hurt In Crash

Police are investigating a crash which left a biker badly hurt.

A car collided with a motorcycle at the junction of Gravel Hill and Queen Anne Drive at 7.38am on Tuesday 20th November.

The motorbike, a blue Yamaha YZF, was ridden by a 44-year-old man from the Wimborne area and the car, a silver Mercedes A class, was driven by a 58-year-old woman from Poole.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken to Poole Hospital with serious facial injuries.

Police Constable Mark Palmer, of Dorset Police Traffic Unit, said:

“Due to the severity of the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist the road was closed to traffic heading toward Poole at the roundabout on Oakley Hill at the junction with the A31.

“Traffic was also prevented from turning right into Queen Anne Drive. This allowed a thorough investigative process to take place.

“At 8.44am the road was fully re-opened.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”

In an unrelated incident the road was closed again a short time later due to a fallen tree between Queen Anne Drive and the roundabout at Oakley Hill while the local authority cleared the road. At 10.22am the road was fully re-opened for a second time.
