Police are looking for a burglar who attacked a man with a crow bar in his own kitchen.

Narinder Chadha from Hamworthy in Poole says he was beaten over the head at least 20 times after finding the man in his house on Blandford Road around 7.35am Wednesday morning (6th October).

The 55-year-old's now being treated in hospital

Detective Constable Ben Singleton, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said:

“I understand that the intruder struck the 55-year-old victim with a crow bar, before fleeing along Blandford Road in the direction of Shapwick Road.

“The victim sustained lacerations to his head and an injury to his arm and was treated at Poole Hospital.

“I believe that a number of items are missing from his house, including an amount of Indian jewellery, such as necklaces, bangles, earrings, bracelets and a diamond ring.”

The alleged offender is described as white, with light-coloured hair. He was wearing a light-coloured jacket with a hood and blue trousers at the time of the incident.

DC Singleton continued: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this very distressing incident, to contact me as soon as possible.

“I would also urge anyone who saw a man running from the Fisherman’s Wharf area this morning to get in touch with Dorset Police urgently.”

A Poole man’s been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.
