Fire Crews Needed for Animal Rescues

Dorset Fire and Rescue was alerted to a dog stuck in a rabbit hole in Mountbatten Drive, Ferndown Thursday (16th Dec).

A crew from Ferndown attended the incident along with our Animal and Special rescue teams from Poole. Crews dug the dog, a Lurcher called Freya, out of the hole and lifted her to safety. It took nearly an hour to rescue her.

Meanwhile Fire Crews also had a call to reports of a horse stuck in a ditch near Corfe Castle. Crews from Wareham and a Special Rescue and Animal Rescue teams from Poole were on the scene with the local vet and the owner of the horse.

'Bruno', a 17 hands high shire horse, was lifted from the river using strops.
