Fire crews have attended a fire at the Sunseeker factory in Poole today (Jan 29).
They received a call to the luxury yacht site in New Quay Road shortly before midday.
Dorset Fire and Rescue said: “Ten firefighters from Hamworthy and Poole attended a commercial building on New Quay Road following reports of smoke issuing from the building. The fire involved an extractor unit on the second floor."
The fire was put out by around 12.40 on Tuesday afternoon and an investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
Sunseeker Managing Director Stewart McIntyre said: "The Fire Service incident controller has confirmed that our Fire and Health & Safety procedures worked extremely well and the Sunseeker staff have done an outstanding job in reacting to this incident.
"At present, the detailed cause of the fire remains unknown but it involved an external extractor fan unit and temporary, fire resistant weather protection sheeting. There is no damage to any of our boats under construction or any serious disruption to our production facilities, which remain fully operational.
"This incident was directly outside the shipyard building our new 155 Yacht and our client has been informed that there is no damage to his boat or disruption to the delivery schedule.
"On behalf of everyone at Sunseeker, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dorset Fire Service and our staff who contributed to containing any potential damage arising from this incident."
