Hundreds Evacuated From Aruba

Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after bins were set on fire in the town.

At 12.21am on Sunday, 11 September 2011, Dorset Police received a report of a fire at the Pier Approach.

Detective Inspector Richard Dixey, from Bournemouth CID, said: "Two bins had been set on fire and pushed toward the public toilets on the west side of the pier arcades.

"Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset Police attended the incident.

"The nearby Aruba nightclub was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

"Nobody was injured.

"We are investigating this incident as arson.

"I am appealing for witnesses and anyone with information or who recalls any suspicious or unusual behaviour near Bournemouth Pier at that time, to contact police as soon as possible."

Nobody has been arrested.
