Investigation Continues Into Serious Sex Assault
Detectives in Poole are renewing their appeal after a serious sexual assault in Alderney – with officers releasing a description of a man they wish to speak to.
The incident, in which a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted, took place between 8pm and 8.20pm on Sunday, 26 September 2010 in a wooded area opposite the allotments on Northmere Drive.
The man police are looking for is described as in his late 40s or early 50s, six feet tall, of skinny build with medium length dark greying hair and a crooked nose.
He was reported to be wearing black shoes, black trousers and a short black jacket, possibly quilted or fleecy, with a light-coloured hooded top underneath.
Detective Inspector Steve Thorpe, of the Bournemouth & Poole Public Protection Unit, said:
“I would encourage this man – or anyone who knows him – to contact me as soon as possible.”
Witnesses in the area at the time also reported seeing a white van in Northmere Drive. It is thought that the driver turned the vehicle around before driving off.
DI Thorpe continued:
“I am keen to speak to the driver of this vehicle as he may have valuable information which will help me with my investigation.
“Anyone who witnessed this sexual assault, or who has any information relating to the incident, should contact me urgently.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 or 01305 22 22 22 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
