Lead Worth £10,000 Stolen From School Roof

Around £10,000 worth of lead has been stolen from the roof of a school.

It happened at St. Marys Catholic Combined School on Devon Road in Longfleet, Poole. Police say the theft was sometime between 5pm on Friday 24th September and 7am on Monday 27th September.

Police Constable Craig Chapman, of Poole police, said: “I understand that lead was stripped from the entire of the school’s main building – something that would have taken considerable time.

“I believe that this lead was moved in a wheelbarrow from the school, along a nearby alleyway and to a vehicle parked on Pound Lane.

“Stealing all of the roof's lead will have required a number of trips back and forth and I am sure that this will have made some noise.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw or heard any suspicious or unusual activity in the Devon Road and Pound Lane areas to contact me.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant you consider it to be, could help me with this investigation.”
