A cage full of lobsters has been stolen on Portland.
Police say it happened overnight between 5pm on Sunday 5th May and 5am on Monday 6th May, at Stone Pier in Castletown. Offenders dragged a large lobster cage on to the beach and stole most of its contents.
Police Constable Sally Ludlow, of Portland Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
"The lobsters that were stolen are worth a substantial amount of money.
"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or saw any suspicious activity around the time in that area to come forward.
"In particular, I ask pub and restaurants in the area of Portland, Weymouth and Bridport to be vigilant and report to the police anyone selling lobsters and shellfish for unusually low prices.
"This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and I would also like to hear from anyone who has information about those
responsible."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 06:121, or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
