Man's Jaw Broken In Bournemouth

A man's needed surgery after his jaw was broken in several places when he was attacked in Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old was punched from behind as he walked home along Cunningham Crescent at around 3.30am on Saturday, 3 September 2011.

The victim, from Bournemouth, sustained several fractures to his jaw – he needed surgery at Poole Hospital.

Detective Constable Ade Stocker, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said

"This was an unprovoked and cowardly assault in which the victim was attacked from behind and left with serious injuries.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to this assault, and anybody who may have any information about the man responsible, to come forward in confidence and contact Dorset Police on 01202 222 222.

"I understand that there were witnesses to this assault and I believe these people may know the identity of the offender. I would urge them to do the right thing and contact me in Bournemouth CID."
