Detectives are investigating an aggravated burglary in Hinton Martell, a village near Wimborne.
Two men broke into the home of a woman in her 80s in the village at 9.30pm on Thursday 2nd May 2013.
She was assaulted when she called for help – she sustained minor facial injuries.
Her handbag, some personal items and jewellery were stolen.
Detective Constable Andy Brix, of Bournemouth and Poole CID, said:
“This is a cowardly and vicious attack on an elderly lady in her own home.
“I am now able to release an e-fit image of one of the men that I would like to speak with as I believe he can assist with the investigation. I urge him to speak with the police and ask if anyone recognises him to come forward.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone that may have noticed suspicious activity in the area either prior to the incident or at the time.
“It is possible that the offenders used a vehicle that would have been parked nearby. In particular I would like to speak to the drivers of a small white car and a silver Mercedes that were seen in the area so that I can eliminate them from my enquiries.
“Any witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Dorset Police in the strictest confidence.”
One of the offenders is described as a white man in his 20s, of slim build, tall with pale blue or grey eyes.
The other offender is described as a white man in his 20s and is slightly shorter.
