Plans To Reduce Conjestion At Traffic Hotspot
Engineers are looking at ways to reduce the traffic jams at a major roundabout in Christchurch.
The county council's looking at two options for the Hurn roundabout.
Option A is a signalised junction and option B is a bigger improved roundabout.
The two outline designs will be on display and the project team will be available to answer people's questions at public exhibitions at Hurn Bridge Sports Club, Avon Causeway, Christchurch:
10am to 5pm, Tuesday 29 January
2pm to 7pm, Wednesday 30 January
Dorset Highways project manager Jody Foy said: ''Hurn Roundabout already struggles to cope with peak time traffic and, with the expansion of Bournemouth airport and associated business park, we need to consider ways to increase the capacity of key junctions on the B3073.''
The scheme aims to:
-maximise capacity and reduce congestion on the B3073
- improve pedestrian safety
- encourage cycling
Work is currently programmed to start in early 2014.
