One week after an attempted robbery in Verwood detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
It happened in the Morrisons car park on Chiltern Drive at approximately 7.25pm on Friday 4 January 2013.
A 59-year-old woman from Wimborne was getting into her car when she was threatened by a man with a handgun demanding money.
She screamed and the man ran off.
Officers will be back at the scene between 6pm and 9pm on Friday 11 January 2013 – exactly one week after the attempted robbery – in a renewed attempt to find potential witnesses.
Detective Sergeant Ian Fletcher, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the attempted robbery.
“We want to reassure the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the offender and we hope that as people do their weekly shopping we are able to locate further witnesses.”
The offender is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, of medium build and weighs about 12 to 13 stones. He spoke with a northern accent and was clean shaven. He was wearing a black woollen hat low over his eyebrows with the rim turned up, a dark jumper with a black gillet over the top, which was done up, and black woollen gloves.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 04:404. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
