People living in North Dorset are warned about a tax con trick.
North Dorset District Council says there's a scam involving a Council Tax rebate which attempts to get homeowners to reveal their bank account details.
The fraudulent email tries to dupe customers into completing a Direct.Gov form for a Council Tax rebate.
But Direct.Gov no longer exists. It used to be a government owned website which has been replaced with GOV.UK.
The council says:
'Please beware of this scam as it looks quite convincing and has the appearance of an official government communication although, on close scrutiny, the grammar is not correct.
