Two Men Stabbed In Ringwood

A 35 year old man's been charged with assault causing GBH after two men were stabbed in Ringwood.

They were found with serious stab wounds in the town just after 2am on Saturday morning (January 1st, 2011).

Police were called to the Cloughs Road and Parsonage Barn Lane areas at 2.15am. They found a group of people gathered in Cloughs Road, along with two injured men.

One man was 49 years old and the other was 20 years old - they are both from Ringwood. The pair were taken to hospital, but the 20-year-old has since been discharged. The 49-year-old remains in hospital and police have told Heart he's in a serious but stable condition.

35-year-old Tristram Meyrick from Clough Road in Ringwood has been charged with two accounts of assault causing GBH and was due to appear in court on Monday January the 3rd 2011.

Detective Inspector Marin Myers of Lyndhurst CID said:

“The victims of these assaults are both recovering from serious injuries which required medical treatment.  A forensic examination of the scene is continuing. The exact circumstances leading up to these assaults remain unclear. We'd like to reassure residents that there's no evidence suggesting there's a risk to the wider community - we're treating this as an isolated incident.”

Police want to speak to any witnesses who were at the scene.
