Two Vehicles Torched In New Forest

Police at Hythe are appealing for information after two vehicles were set on fire in Drapers Copse, Claypits Lane, Dibden.

Between 5pm Saturday, March 16, and 4am Sunday, March 17, an attempt was made to steal a purple Ford Fiesta by moving it from its residential parking place. When the attempt failed, it is believed the suspect set the car on fire.

When Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze at 5.48am Sunday, they found a white Toyota pick up truck also was alight.

PC Lisa Webb is appealing for information about the fires.

“There would not have been many people around at that time of day, so I need to hear from anyone who saw suspicious people or activity in the early hours of March 17,” she said.

“Drapers Copse is populated mainly by older residents, and this type of incident came as a shock to them,” PC Webb said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Webb at Hythe on 101.
