Wareham Children's Centre Reopens

Wareham Children's Centre has re-opened after being forced to close following a series of thefts of lead from the centre's roof.

Earlier this month, thieves stole lead from the centre, on Streche Road, and rain water leaked through the ceiling which damaged the centre and made it unsafe for children and their families to use.

Most activities and groups were relocated to children's centres in Upton and Swanage, while builders sorted the damage.

The roof has now been fixed and the remaining lead has been replaced with fibreglass. The centre also has new ceilings, new carpets and has been redecorated.

Children's centre manager Keeley Grennan said:

"Thank you to everyone for their patience. I'm really glad that we're open again and look forward to seeing children and their families back at their local centre."
