A Weymouth man who assaulted a police officer has received a 10 month prison sentence.
Thomas Harvey Ashe, aged 21, acted aggressively toward officers, headbutting one of them, along St Mary Street in Weymouth just after 7am on Sunday 15 September 2013.
It happened after officers were called to a fight in the street.
Ashe pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm at Dorchester Crown Court on Friday 13 December 2013 and was sentenced at the same court on Friday 10 January 2014.
Detective Constable Declan Cummings, of Weymouth CID, said:
“This sentence sends a clear message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.
“Dorset Police is working hard together with partner agencies to make the town centre a safer place for people living, working and visiting.”
