A woman has been seriously sexually assaulted in Bournemouth town centre.
It happened on Horseshoe Common near Old Christchurch Road during the early hours of Thursday, 15 April 2010.
An area of the common near the Wessex Way flyover was cordoned off to allow an examination by specialist crime scene investigators and specially trained officers have been speaking with the victim, a 31-year-old Bournemouth woman.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Roberts said: "The victim and her friend befriended two men earlier in the evening. The victim and the suspect became separated from her friend and the assault then occurred on the common."
The man police are looking for is white, more than 20 years of age, five feet six to five feet seven inches tall and of medium build with broad shoulders. He has a prominent jaw bone, a shaven head and a strong Liverpudlian accent. He was wearing a white short-sleeved T shirt and light blue jeans.
Detective Sergeant Roberts continued: "I believe that the man responsible was socialising with up to five other men in bars close to Horseshoe Common before befriending the two women.
"I’d also like to hear from anyone who has any other information that might help me identify the man, no matter how insignificant that information may appear to be."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 22 22 22 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
