Woman Critical After Being Hit By Car

Traffic officers are investigating a road traffic collision in Norden, near Corfe Castle.

A black Ford Focus hit a pedestrian on the A351 at Norden Bridge just before 6pm on Sunday 9 December 2012.

The pedestrian, a 62-year-old woman from Corfe Castle, sustained life threatening injuries and remains in Southampton General Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 55-year-old woman from Swanage, was uninjured.

Police Constable Kevin Adlem, of Poole Police’s Traffic Unit, said:

“It is believed that the lady had just got off the number 40 Wilts and Dorset bus on Gallows Hill and a man got off the bus at the same time.

“Sadly she was then in a collision with the Ford Focus as she crossed the road.

“I am very keen to speak to anyone who has information on the movements of the man and woman as they attempted to cross the road and the movements of the Focus prior to the collision.

“At the time of the incident a car was seen travelling on the A351 in the direction of Wareham. I believe the driver of that car may have information that can help with the investigation and I appeal for them to come forward.

“I urge any witnesses to phone the police urgently on 101.”
