12 December 2013, 06:00
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 14 year old girl was assaulted as she walked to school on Tuesday (Dec 10).
The incident happened in an alley that links Beaconsfield to Crawley Green Road between 7.30am and 7.35am.
A man, described as white, approximately 20 years old with a slim build and clean shaven, grabbed the victim and touched her inappropriately before she has managed to break free and ran from the scene towards Crawley Green Road.
DC Andy Harrowing, investigating, is keen to trace anyone who was also in the area and who may have also seen the man who was wearing a black hooded top with the hood pulled up and white cord on the hood, blue jeans and white training shoes.
DC Harrowing said: “This type of offence is very rare but we want to put a stop to this man’s behaviour quickly so I would urge anyone who saw a man matching this description in the area on Tuesday morning or anyone who can help identify him to come forward and assist with this investigation.
“I would remind members of the public when they are out and about during the dark winter mornings or evenings to ensure they do not take short cuts but stay in well-lit, populated areas and where possible walk with friends."
Anyone with information relating to this investigation can contact DC Harrowing, at Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
