Bedfordshire Police investigating the theft of a debit card from a pensioner have today(Monday, May 1) released pictures of two men they want to interview.

It follows an incident at 12.45pm on Saturday, April 23 at Sainsbury’s Homebase store in Dunstable where two men watched an elderly man key in his pin number at the checkouts.

Once outside the store they approached the man and insisted he open his wallet to check whether he had dropped a £5 note – but then managed to take his debit card.

Shortly after they went back to the store and used the card to withdraw cash.

Crime Desk Investigator Gillian Cook-Smith is keen to speak to anyone who knows the men, or their whereabouts. She also wants shoppers to be on their guard when using cashpoints, or against anyone asking to see inside a wallet or handbag.

Anyone with information can contact Investigator Cook-Smith, in confidence, on 01582 473153, the main switchboard on 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
