Man tries to take cash from till

Police are appealing for information after a man attempted to snatch cash from a till at a convenience store and post office in Stevenage.

The incident occurred at around 3.48pm at the ‘At Your Convenience’ Post Office in Archer Road, Stevenage, on Saturday, January 15. The offender entered the shop, picked up a drink and stood in a queue at the till.

When it was his turn to pay, the man has attempted to grab cash out of the till. He was unsuccessful and left the store empty handed.

The offender is described as a white male in his early twenties. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with ear flaps, dark jogging bottoms and white trainers. He also wore a distinctive jacket with black sleeves and a black back with thick white vertical stripes at the sides going up across the shoulders to the neck.

The front of the jacket was white with three thin black vertical stripes down each side. The offender was also wearing a grey hoodie under the jacket.

Detective Sergeant Gez Ellis from Stevenage Local Crime Unit said: “The description of the offender’s clothes is quite distinctive. If you have any information about this crime, please ring the non emergency number 0845 33 00 222 quoting crime number E1/11/368.
