A gun's been fired inside a Luton convenience store, in the latest shooting in the town.
Police are trying to find people who saw an attempted robbery at the Premier News shop in Kirby Drive on the morning of Tuesday 7 May 2013.
Two men approached the shop at around 7.15am. One stood by the door while the other entered the shop armed with a hand gun.
A shot was fired inside the shop before both men left the scene, empty handed, running towards Whitehaven.
The first man is described as wearing black clothing and a black balaclava; the second wore a grey tracksuit and was carrying a florescent green drawstring bag.
Armed officers together with officers from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Dog Unit have carried out an area search but no-one was found.
Scenes of Crime Officers have been at the scene undertaking a forensic examination of the area.
Detective Inspector Iain Morgan, leading the investigation, is keen to trace anyone who saw the incident this morning and can help identify the men involved.
DI Morgan said: “We are at the early stages of this investigation and we need members of the public to come forward and help identify those involved.
“We would appeal to anyone who saw the incident or anyone who may have seen two men in the area at around 7am this morning to contact the police. Even the smallest piece of information may be valuable to this investigation and members of the public can always speak with officers in complete confidence.”
