Radio and TV presenter Dave Lee Travis has appeared in court charged with 12 sex offences.
The 68 year old (pictured) who lives at Mentmore on the Buckinghamshire/Bedfordshire border, is accused of 11 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between 1977 and 2007 against nine victims aged between 15 and 29.
The presenter said he has his wife's support, and that of his friends, as he appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday 23 August 2013.
His lawyer indicated that he will plead not guilty.
Travis, whose real name is David Patrick Griffin, has denied any wrongdoing since he was first arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in November 2012.
Addressing reporters outside court, Travis said: "I am supported by my wife and friends. My wife is not here today and the reason that she is not here today is because I detest hare-coursing.''
After the short hearing, he told reporters inside the court building that he could not talk about the case.
He said: "I either talk for a long time or I don't, and at the moment I'm not talking.''
Travis, who was charged on Thursday 15 August 2013, was told that his case will be sent to Southwark Crown Court, where he will next appear on Monday 6 September.
He was released on bail with the conditions that he lives at his home in Mentmore and does not contact the alleged victims.
Wearing a grey suit, white shirt and patterned tie, he spoke to confirm his name and date of birth, and to query what the next hearing would involve.
Travis was charged as part of Operation Yewtree, the police investigation prompted by the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal, but the accusations against Travis have no connection to the disgraced television presenter.
The presenter - known by the initials DLT - has been a regular on British radio since the 1970s. He has also presented Top Of The Pops.
