Four men steal safe and Asian jewellery from house in Leighton Buzzard.

Detectives are trying to trace four men who pretended to be from the Immigration Service, to get into a house in Leighton Buzzard and steal cash and jewellery.

It happened at around 10.45am on Thursday 19 September, when the men, described as having Irish accents, knocked on the door in Plantation Road, saying there were from the Immigration Service.

When they got in, they demanded to be shown where the safe was and Asian jewellery. One of the men watched over the two women inside, whilst the others made a messy search for the items.

After finding the safe, containing cash and jewellery, they dragged it into a vehicle waiting on the drive, before making off.

The man who watched over the victims has been described as having white with dark hair, wearing a light blue shirt, blue jeans and Fred Perry shoes.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Constable Richard Cunningham said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have been offered Asian jewellery or noticed an abandoned safe.

"If you can help identify those responsible for this crime please contact the police.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who saw anyone hanging around Leighton Road on Thursday morning or a black vehicle behaving suspiciously."
