Houses Flooded With Sewage In Downpour

Seven homes in Stevenage were flooded with sewage last night as drains struggled to handle the huge amount of rainwater.

Mark Wheatley lives down Bronte Paths and says he was stood in his front garden up to his knees in water and sewage.

He used a bucket to try and keep it away from the house but it managed to make its way through cracks in the door and destroyed his carpet.

Neighbours had to call the fire brigade when the flood became too serious and they managed to pump the water away.

When Heart went to see the residents this afternoon they were still waiting for the council to come and clear the remaining sewage from their doorsteps.
