The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating Bedfordshire Police contact with a man prior to the murder of Leonard Flower in Luton
Police officers attended the address of Sameer Babar of Carnegie Gardens in Luton on the evening of 21 October this year after he contacted them.
Mr Flower, aged 67, was attacked while working in his garage at home in Luton on the afternoon of 22 October and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sameer Babar, 35, has since been charged with the murder.
Bedfordshire Police referred the matter to the IPCC straight away, and we decided to conduct an independent investigation into prior police contact with Mr Babar.
IPCC Commissioner Mary Cunneen told Heart: "We have advised Mr Flower’s family of our involvement and I would like to express my sincere condolences to them at this difficult time. We will be updating them as our investigation progresses."
