A 25 year old man has had his jaw broken in two places after being punched in Dunstable.
He was assaulted during a night out in the town on Sunday, November 24, between 4am and 5.30am.
It happened close to Eleanor's Cross in North Street, close to Subways.
The victim was approached by a man who punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
He managed to run from the scene and got into a taxi that took him home.
The following morning he went to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital where it was confirmed that he had two breaks to his jaw.
The officer in charge of this investigation, Detective Constable Mohammed Hussain, is keen to trace the taxi driver and anyone who saw the incident.
DC Hussain said:
"The victim will now undergo medical treatment to his jaw which remains extremely painful. I would urge anyone who saw the assault and can help described the offender or the driver of the taxi to contact the police.
"These people could have vital information relating to this incident and may be able to help identify the man responsible."
