L&D Hospital Restrict Visiting Hours

1 December 2012, 08:00

Visiting hours at the Luton and Dunstable hospital will be restricted from today.

Its hoped that reducing the number of people going into hospital wards could lower the chances of patents catching Norovirus.

Norovirus, also know as the Winter Vomiting Bug, causes extreme sickness and diarrhoea

Although it can strike at anytime in the year Chief Nurse Patricia Reid says it is most delay in the winter:

"A lot of people have more chest conditions in the winter especially our more frail, older patents and to get the Norovirus on top of that can seriously compromise their health"

Nurse Reid says catching the bug can debilitate patents when they're already poorly enough to be in hospital.

Visiting times will now be 15.30 - 17.00 and 19.00 - 20.30.

“Please respect our limits on the number of visitors allowed at any one time. Children from a patient’s family may visit as part of this number, however it is not advisable to bring very young children. The nurse in charge may make exceptions for some individual patients but their main concern will be for the comfort and safety of the patients."
