A man has been shot in the leg in Luton after being targeted by two men on a motorbike.

Detectives in Luton are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the 33 year old was shot in the leg yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened at approximately 4pm in Tudor Road when the man was targeted by two men on a motorcycle.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment to the injury.

House to house enquiries have been undertaken and Scenes of Crime Officers have attended the scene to complete a forensic examination.

The two offenders are described as black men and were riding a dark blue motorcycle, possibly replica Yamaha R1, and wore blue helmets, dark tops and light bottom.

The officer in charge of this investigation, Detective Sergeant Martin Eaton, is keen to trace anyone who saw the offender in the area or the incident itself.

DS Eaton said: “Violent offences and the use of illegal firearms will not be tolerated within our county and detectives are now piecing together the background to this incident and the reason why this man was targeted.”

He continued: “We believe the offenders were seen in the area at around mid-day yesterday and returned shortly before the shooting took place. We would urge anyone who saw the men on the motorcycle and can help identify those responsible for this incident to come forward and speak with officers, in confidence.”
