Police investigating a shooting in the Marsh Farm area of Luton that left a young man injured are trying to identify three men on bicycles.
A man in his twenties suffered a leg injury in what happened in Arrow Close at 6.30pm on Sunday 3 February 2013. He was taken to hospital for treatment and is now recovering.
The officer in charge of this investigation, Detective Inspector Iain Morgan, is keen to trace anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting or anyone who can help identify those responsible.
DI Morgan said: “We have seen gun crime reduce significantly in the town over the last year and we want this reduction to continue. Bedfordshire Police is using all resources available to thoroughly investigate this crime and believe this was not a random incident.
“All three offenders, who were on bicycles, left towards Spinney Woods, and anyone who saw anyone matching these descriptions in the area are urged to come forward and speak to the police, in complete confidence, or alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously. Anyone who has information that may help this inquiry can be reassured that any information given will be treated confidentially and will help stop those who choose to commit violent offences such as this within our community.”
The first offender is described as a man in his late teens to early 20s with a slim build. He wore a baseball cap with a cream or white peak, a light blue hip length jacket with a hood and reflective strips down the sleeves, possibly made from shower proof/shell suit material together with black trousers, which were tight around the ankle, and white training shoes. It is believed this man ran with a slight limp.
The second offender is described as a man in his late teens to early 20s with a larger, muscular build. He wore a black hooded top and black clothing. It is believed he was riding a mountain bike.
The third offender was a man wearing dark clothing and riding a white bike with black writing on the cross bar.
Three men were arrested at the time of the incident. Two have been released without charge having been eliminated from the investigation and the third has been released on police bail pending further investigation.
