Detectives in Luton are appealing for witnesses and information after a pensioner was burgled, assaulted and tied up in his own home before the offender stole his car yesterday morning (Monday April 25th).

It happened at the 73-year-old’s Mulberry Close home at 10.30am. The man, who lives alone, heard the offender as he broke into the property and challenged him before being assaulted and tied up. The offender then took his wallet and car keys and fled the scene of the crime in the victim’s own car, a green Mazda MX5 – registration number H755 BGK (1991).

The offender is described as an Asian or mixed race man, aged between 30 and 38, 5’8” tall wearing a black top and black trousers.

The victim raised the alarm after setting himself free and going out into the street to ask a member of the public for help. Police were then called at 1pm along with an ambulance who took him to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
