Pensioner dies after mobility accident

A woman in her 80s has died after the mobility scooter she was on was in collision with a truck.

It happened on Friday (February 25th) in Stevenage at around 1pm.

Hertfordshire Police said the accident happened on Popple Way in the town.

The woman and her mobility scooter were struck by Toyota Hilux being driven by a man in his 20s.

The woman was taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage where she later died. The man was uninjured.

PC Bob Hauxwell, investigating from the Road Crash Investigation Unit, said: "This is a sad incident where a woman has lost her life.

"We are appealing for people who may have seen the collision or have any information in connection with it to come forward and contact us."

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward. They are asked to contact PC Bob Hauxwell from the Road Crash Investigation Unit, via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.
