Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was arrested on suspicion of stalking a teenage girl in Houghton Regis.

On Wednesday (Feb 20), the victim was followed from Parkside Drive, Houghton Regis to Elm Park Close by a man driving a vehicle. The offender parked his car and when the victim approached he asked her for directions but she refused to speak with him and recorded his number plate before making her way home.

Having called the police the victim revealed that the same individual had tried to coax her into his vehicle twice before in August and November last year.

The driver had pulled over close to the girl to ask for directions and then claimed he couldn’t understand and asked her to get in the car. On each occasion, the victim refused and fled.

Four similar reports have been submitted to officers and detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of stalking – he has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Sandra Evans told Heart: "We're urging anyone who may have been approached in the Houghton Regis area since August last year to get in touch with Bedfordshire Police to report these incidents.

If you have information relating to these incidents contact DI Evans, in confidence, on the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011."
