A 73 year old man has died while cutting down trees in Luton.

It's thought he was hit by a falling tree on the afternoon of Wednesday 3 April 2013 as he cut trees in a wooded area near the Sundon Park district of the town.

A Bedfordshire Police spokeswoman said: "Bedfordshire Police can confirm an elderly man has died while cutting down trees in a wooded area in Luton.

"Officers were called at 12.45pm by the ambulance service to Rotten Corner, a green space between Sundon Park Road and Marsh Farm where the 73-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The man will not be identified until an inquest into his death is opened by Her Majesty's Coroner.''
