The 45 year old man asked a group of men to stop abusing the bar staff when two of them attacked him with a bar stool knocking him unconscious.
While on the the floor the men continued the assault by kicking him before they were dragged away by their friends.
The victim was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital where an X-Ray showed his jaw and some of his teeth were broken.
There was also sever bruising and swelling to his face.
DC Tomlinson said:
“This was a brutal attack on a man who did nothing more than tell a group of boisterous men to behave themselves and show some respect to the bar staff.
"To then be violently assaulted in such a way was horrific and I’d urge anyone with information to come forward and speak with us.”
