Woman Wakes To Burglar In Bedroom

A woman was asleep at home in Welwyn Garden City when she woke to find a burglar in her bedroom.

The incident happened between 11.45pm on Wednesday (February 20) and 12.05am on Thursday (February 21) in Archers Ride. 

When the woman woke up she found an intruder searching through her belongings. 

When he realised she was awake, he made off with cash.

 Detective Sergeant Alex Tyrrell from Hertfordshire Police is investigating and said: 

“This was a very frightening incident for the victim and she is understandably very shaken by what happened. Most burglars avoid entering a property if they believe someone is inside, so this type of burglary where the offender enters the victim’s room is extremely rare.

“We believe the offender may have been outside the property prior to the offence at around 11.45pm so we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity around this time to contact us.”
