A motorcyclist has died following a single vehicle crash in Ipswich.

Police were called at around 2.35am this morning (26 July) to reports a motorbike was riding at high speed through the town centre.

The bike, a Yamaha DT 125, then struck railings and glass along the waterfront outside the University Campus Suffolk building 15 minutes later.

Emergency services tried to resuscitate the rider, who was a man in his early twenties and from the town. He was then taken to Ipswich hospital where he later died.

The waterfront was closed for investigations and to recover the bike. The road reopened at 8.15am this morning (26 July).

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the bike travelling through the town or who witnessed the collision. Calls should be made to the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101 quoting CAD 53 of 26/7/14.
