The Olympic Torch Relay In Essex

The Olympic Torch arrived in Essex on day 49 of the relay - Friday 6th July. Arriving in Colchester in the early hours, the relay visited many towns, villages and two Olympic venues in Essex before leaving the county via Newport in the early afternoon of Saturday 7th July.

The wet weather failed to dampen the spirits of either the torchbearers or the thousands of people who turned out to show their support.
