In 1980, Harlow Town beat Leicester City in the FA Cup Third Round Replay - Harlow Town v Leicester City. There were celebrations in the Dressing room for team mates of Harlow Town's goal scorer John Macenzie, lifted from his feet, after their triumph over Leicester City.

In 1991, Harlow played host to Prince Charles on his 43rd birthday. Nurse Lesley Green from Princess Alexandra Hospital presented him with a rose to mark the occasion.

In 2010, then Prime Minister Gordon Brown met members of the public at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

2012 saw a visit from Labour leader Ed Miliband to Harlow - he met hairdressing students at Harlow College where he later held a Q&A with students and staff.
