Basildon: Man Attacked With Baseball Bat
A man is in a stable condition in hospital after he was hit on the head with a baseball bat and robbed in Basildon.
The victim - a 28-year-old fast-food worker - was walking along Wimbish End just before 1am yesterday (Tuesday May 28th) when the attack happened.
The offender then made off with a four-figure sum of cash.
He was taken to Basildon University Hospital by paramedics before later being transferred to another hospital.
Investigating Officer, Dc Tony Tyndall, said: "We have completed our house-to-house enquiries and are now trawling through CCTV to ascertain whether the attack or the assailant have been captured on camera.
"We are naturally looking to speak with any witnesses to the assault or those who saw a man running along Mill Green toward Ashlyns at 1am.
"Furthermore, we have a good description of the offender and so I'm hoping that his flatmate, relative or loved one recognises him from the description provided and calls us with his details. He needs to be arrested for what he has done."
The attacker is described as white, aged in his late teens or early 20s, of slim build, is approximately 5ft 5ins tall, has a long nose and was wearing a green baseball cap, green T-shirt and a long-sleeved grey sweatshirt underneath.
Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
