Brentwood Man Dies During Diving Expedition

It's been confirmed a man from Brentwood was one of two divers who died off the Sussex coast, on Saturday.

The men have been formally identified as Christopher Mehegan, 45, of Brentwood, Essex and Peter Stanning, 44, of Highbury Hill, North London.

The pair had been out with a group of divers, in the English Channel, off Eastbourne, before getting into difficulty on Saturday afternoon.

Both men were airlifted to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Post-mortem examinations will take place today (Wednesday 18th).
