Brightlingsea: Woman Dies In Houseboat Fire

A woman has died following a fire on a houseboat in Brightlingsea.

Emergency services were called to Morgans Boatyard on Copperas Road just before 7.55am this morning (Friday, 31 January).

A woman was rescued from the boat by firefighters and was given emergency medical assistance at the scene by police and paramedics as well as doctors from the Essex Air Ambulance.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Essex Police say an investigation in to the cause of the fire will be carried out, however, it is not thought to be suspicious.
