Chelmsford Hosts Its First Marathon
Thousands of people will take to the streets, fields and parks of Chelmsford later for the city's first ever marathon.
The 26.2 mile route will takes runners through five of Chelmsford's parks; Central Park, Admirals Park, Tower Gardens, Bellmead Park and the award-winning grounds of Hylands Park via Writtle.
There will be some road closures in Writtle.
Agreed with Essex Highways, the following roads will be affected between 9am and 5pm; Bridge Street, Paradise Road, Lodge Road, Romans Way, Penrose Mead, St John’s Green, St John’s Road , Guy’s Farm, Lawford Lane and Melba Court.
Full diversion signs will be in place.
Buses will follow a diverted route accessing the village centre via Lodge Road.
It's all in aid of Jay's Hospice.
Su from Heart Breakfast will be running and The Heart Angels will be there to see runners off.
