False Ebola Alarm In Colchester

Heart's been told a man placed in Isolation at Colchester hospital is ''very, very unlikely' to have Ebola.

He walked into accident and emergency complaining of feverish symptoms after returning from East Africa.

Currently only countries in West Africa are at risk.

The man however was still placed in isolation and staff in protective suits were used as a precaution.

A spokesman said: "It is very, very, very, unlikely to be Ebola as he has not been to any of the countries where it is reported and has not been in contact with anyone who is at risk."

The hospital say he has been placed into isolation purely as a precaution.

Public Health England advised the hospital the man's "criteria" for having caught Ebola was "too low" for testing but added he should be tested for other diseases relating to time spent in African swamps.
