Essex is to get it's third Park and Ride.
Essex County Council has approved planning permission for a Park and Ride at Cuckoo Farm in Colchester.
The scheme will provide parking for up to 1000 vehicles, and there will be a dedicated high frequency bus service which will use a priority bus route to places like Colchester Station and the town centre.
County Councillor Tracey Chapman, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation said: “This is good news for the people visiting Colchester as well as its residents. This will enable more time to spend in Colchester exploring what it has to offer. For residents the site will mean less cars travelling into the town centre, meaning less congestion and pollution.”
The proposal is estimated to cost £3.4m and should be completed by late 2012.
