Essex Police is investigating how an elderly resident died and two others from the Partridge Care Centre in Harlow were left needing hospital treatment.

One person died after being taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Wednesday 3 August while two others remain in a stable condition.

Further tests are being carried out on the resident who died to establish cause of death.

A 36-year-old woman from Enfield has been arrested and released on bail until October in connection with the investigation.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are looking into the circumstances leading to the three residents being taken to hospital.

Detectives are also considering the care and treatment of residents at the home as well as a number of historic complaints.

Specialist Public Protection officers from Essex Police are also working closely with partners in the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board including the Primary Care Trust, Essex County Council, the Care Quality Commission and Partridge Care Centre in reviewing all care procedures and ensuring the highest possible standards of care for elderly and vulnerable residents.
